About me
Training and Experience
I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Healer. I hold a Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and have also been trained in different disciplines of Somatic/Body Psychotherapy. I specialise in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating and obesity and I also have significant experience working with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety and stress management, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, trauma, anger management and addictions.
An integrative, holistic approach, blending embodied with transpersonal practices
My approach is integrative and holistic, aiming to incorporate all levels of human experience; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. I believe that no single approach is effective for everyone, under all circumstances; therefore, my personal style involves a combination of elements from the different therapeutic schools I have been trained in. My main influences have been Jungian Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy and Dream Analysis, Art and Movement Therapy, Energy Healing and Therapeutic Yoga. The broad and varied toolbox I have developed allows me to be flexible in my work and to adopt my approach to each of my clients' unique needs. Beyond all theories, I deeply value the therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner as the most important aspect of therapy. In this context, I am committed to providing a confidential, comfortable and supportive environment, based on the values of non-judgmental acceptance and unconditional approval, that facilitates personal exploration, insight, transformation and healing.
I am a long-term yoga practitioner and teacher, having completed several trainings in different styles of yoga. I believe that the ancient wisdom of Yoga and its sister discipline, Ayurveda (=Science of Life), can be wonderfully applied in the context of psychotherapy and have the potential to compliment and facilitate the therapeutic process. Hence, I often incorporate yoga techniques, as well as elements of yoga philosophy and psychology in my work with clients.
My personal journey; the initiation, the calling, the path
My deep interest in the Psychology of Eating Disorders and Obesity was ignited by my personal experience with different forms of eating disorders, in my late teens. Following my full recovery and having thus acquired an understanding of the issue from the inside, I became passionate about this challenging, yet incredibly meaningful area, and went on to pursue professional training in the treatment of such conditions. Being aware of how complex an issue Eating Disorders can be, I studied various disciplines and different approaches, with the intention to obtain the skills and knowledge that would enable me to provide as an all-inclusive and complete treatment as possible. As a result, I am able to offer you both my professional knowledge and clinical experience, as well as the invaluable practical skills and insights that have come out of my own journey to recovery.
